Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship Program for 2015 (Japanese Studies Student) - for Israeli Citizens
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) offers scholarships to foreign students to study at Japanese universities in order to deepen their understanding of the Japanese language, Japanese affairs and Japanese Culture. The Embassy of Japan in Israel would like to encourage students interested in studying in Japan apply to this program as follows.

Guideline:
Please read carefully the followings points as well as the Application Guidelines provided by MEXT for the detail.

1.Term of Scholarship The term is the period necessary to complete the admitting university's study course, which should be approximately 1 year from October 2015, the starting month of the course. Extension of the term is not allowed.

2. Qualifications & Conditions (Below points are only a part of them)
(1) Nationality: Applicants must be a holder of Israeli passport or Israeli ID Card.
(2) Age: Applicants must have been born between April 2, 1985, and April 1, 1997.
(3) Academic Background: Applicants must be undergraduates at foreign (non-Japanese) universities majoring in fields related to the Japanese language or Japanese culture at the time of arriving in and leaving Japan.
(4) Japanese Language Ability: Applicants must have Japanese language ability sufficient for receiving education at a Japanese university in Japan.
(5) Others: Recipients of the MEXT scholarship shall immediately return to their home country and resume their studies at their school after the end of the period for the provision of the scholarship. Read the detail

3. There are some conditions which who meet any is ineligible (Below points are only a part of them)
(1) Those who have received a Japanese Government Scholarship in the past.
(2) Those who are currently enrolled in a Japanese university with a "College Student" resident status: those enrolled, or scheduled to be enrolled, in a Japanese university as a privately financed international student during the period when the scholarship application was filed in the home country until prior to the start of the provision of the scholarship.

Schedule & Procedure for Israeli Applicants

1. Get your Application forms & other documents.
For Israeli applicants, the application forms are available upon your request to: study@tl.mofa.go.jp

Please specify the following information in your email and you will receive the application forms
by email when you are qualified to apply.

(1) Full Name
(2) Gender (Male / Female)
(3) Nationality (only Israeli passport/ ID holders can apply)
(4) Date of birth
(5) Name of the university + department where you study as an undergraduate student, and the current year
(6) If you are scheduled to be enrolled in a Japanese university during the period of this scholarship


2. Prepare Applications
(1) Prepare 3 sets of documents and submit by hand by the deadline.
All required documents are to be fully and correctly completed.

INCOMPLETE SET OF DOCUMENTS WILL BE DISQUALIFIED.
Check the necessary documents.
(2) All documents submitted will not be returned.
(3) Official documents must be submitted in ENGLISH ONLY. In case your school does not issue the document in English, you must submit an English translation in addition to the original document.
DOCUMENTS IN HEBREW WITHOUT ENGLISH TRANSLATION WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

3. Deadline for submitting applications
Please submit the above mentioned documents by hand to the Public Information & Culture Section (library),
Embassy of Japan in Israel (The Museum Tower 19th Floor, 4 Berkowitz Street, Tel Aviv),
no later than 16:00 on
Monday, February 2, 2015.
The Embassy opening hours: 9:00-16:00 (Mon.-Thu.), 9:00-14:00 (Fri.)

4. Primary Screening (Documents Screening, Written Examination & Interview)

(1) The primary screening procedures will be handled by the 2015 Japanese Studies Student Scholarship Selection Committee, organized by the Embassy of Japan in Israel.

(2) Documents Screening:
All the documents submitted will be carefully scrutinized and only who will go on to the next stage will be notified so by the Embassy of Japan by around
February 9, 2015, and only who passed the documents screening will be invited to the written examination and the interview which will be held at the Embassy of Japan in Tel Aviv.

(3) Written Examination:
Only who passed the documents screening will be invited to take Japanese test to be conducted
at the Embassy of Japan on
Friday, February 27, 2015. The result will be notified to the test takers in a few days.

(4) Interview:
Only who passed the written examination will be invited to the interview conducted by the Selection Committee at the Embassy of Japan on
Friday, March 6, 2015 (TBC).
The result will be notified by around mid of March 2015. Those who passed the interview will be recommended to MEXT as the suitable candidates for the 2015 Japanese Studies Student Scholarship Program.

5. Secondary Screening:
The Secondary Screening will be held by MEXT in Tokyo and the final result decided by MEXT
will be informed to the successful grantees by around May 2015.
