Congratulatory Message for His Majesty the Emperor’s Birthday
2021/2/11
I would like to convey my congratulations to His Majesty the Emperor Naruhito, who was born on February 23, 1960 and enthroned on May 1, 2019, in celebration of his 61st birthday this year.
It is the great pleasure for us, the whole staff of the Embassy of Japan in Israel to be able to celebrate His Majesty the Emperor's birthday with you.
To celebrate the birthday of His Majesty the Emperor, we have carefully considered the possibility of holding a national reception in February as we did last year. However, we have decided regrettably to refrain from holding such reception this year from the perspective of cooperating with the Israeli government's measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection, as the local infection data does not yet show signs which would allow for larger gatherings.
Many people in Israel have been infected with COVID-19, which has had serious political, economic, and social impacts, including three total lockdowns, thus hampering the daily lives of Japanese residents in Israel as well. Although the situation continues to be difficult for all of us, the Embassy will continue to work closely with Israeli authorities to ensure the health and safety of the Japanese residents.
I sincerely hope that Japan and Israel will overcome such hardships as soon as possible and both peoples will return to an optimistic outlook and normal lives.
