|
On July 3, the Exhibition: "Cross-Play: Male Actors, Female Roles in Kabuki Theater" began at the Israel Museum, Jerusalem. On July 17, H.E. Ambassador Hideo Sato attended the official opening event of the exhibition, which is held as part of the celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the Diplomatic Relations between Japan and Israel. Many visitors were fascinated by the Museum's rich collection of woodblock prints and paintings as well as the valuable kabuki costumes specially brought from Japan. Ambassador Sato in his remarks expressed his delight and excitement to see the traditional art of Japan, a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, is finally available in Israel through the exhibition. Further to expose the Israeli public to a first-hand experience of the traditional dance-drama, real Kabuki actors will come from Japan to perform at the Israel Museum and at Suzanne Dellal Center in Tel Aviv from late August to early September. Please see the event calendar on the Embassy of Japan homepage. The exhibition continues until November 10, 2012 The Israel Museum, Jerusalem: http://www.imj.org.il/exhibitions/presentation/exhibit.asp?id=799 |
