The Museum Tower, 19th floor 4 Berkowitz St., Tel Aviv The lecture will be held in Hebrew Lecturer: Dr. Ayelet Zohar, Tel Aviv University Morimura Yasumasa (森村泰昌 b. 1951, Osaka) is the Artistic Director of the coming 5th Triennale of Yokohama that will open in Aug. 2014. Morimura, one of the most significant and leading figures of photography In Japan, a person who had nearly single-handedly changed the language of 1970s photography, when presenting a novel method of expression that raised far-reaching dilemmas in relation to the tension between photography and reality. Morimura made his name with his series Daughter of Art History which he created in the 1980s, his Actress series of the 1990s, and Requiem to the XX Century in the 2000s. In all three series Morimura raised essential issues regarding relations between Japan and the West – in the context of high, canonical and museum art; in the context of popular culture and cinema; and within the context of photography, photojournalism and new media. The Yokohama Triennale 2014 will be held from August 1 to November 3, 2014 at the museum at the pier of Yokohama, Japan. Yokohama Triennale is one of the most important art events in Japan. It takes place once every three years in the piers and old town of Yokohama area. The first Triennale was installed in 2001 and this year will be its fifth celebration. The selection of artists on display includes famous international names (such as Andy Warhol, Marcel Broodthaers, Joseph Cornell and René Magritte among others), young and unknown artists (such as Masahiro Wada, Yuko Mohri, Melvin Moti etc.), and mid-career artists that gradually climb up the ladder to fame, and the Triennale serves as an excellent platform for the continuity of their success (Miwa Yanagi, Toyoda Hitoshi, Michael Landy and more). The main theme of the Yokohama Triennale 2014 is ART Fahrenheit 451: Sailing into the Sea of Oblivion. By this concept, the Triennale team - that accompanies Morimura in his endeavours - plans to challenge issues concerning the link between past and present. In her lecture, Dr. Ayelet Zohar will tell us about Morimura's work, the history of Yokohama Triennale, the concept and challenge of the coming one – hoping to encourage Israeli audiences to visit Japan to see the event. *Dr. Ayelet Zohar is transdisciplnary artist, independent curator and a researcher of visual culture, specializing in the history and theory of photography in Japan, and a lecturer at the Art History Dept., Tel Aviv University. |
מורימורה יאסומאסה והטריאנלה של יוקוהאמה, 2014 ביום שישי 27 ביוני 2014 בשעה 11:00 בספריית שגרירות יפן מגדל המוזיאון רחוב ברקוביץ 4, קומה 19, תל אביב. ההרצאה בעברית מרצה: ד"ר אילת זהר, אוניברסיטת תל אביב מורימורה יאסומאסה (נ. 1951, אוסאקה) הוא המנהל האמנותי של הטריאנלה ה5 של יוקוהאמה אשר תפתח באוגוסט 2014. מורימורה, הוא אחד הצלמים הבולטים והמובילים של יפאן, אדם אשר במו ידיו שינה את פני שפת הצילום היפאני של שנות ה70, בהציגו צורת ביטוי חדשה, אשר העלתה שאלות מרחיקות לכת ביחס למתח שבין צילום והמציאות. מורימורה קנה את שמו בשנות ה80 בסדרת צילומי "בת תולדות האמנות", בשנות ה90 בסדרת צילומי "שחקנית" ובשנות ה2000 בסדרת "רקוויאם למאה ה20". בשלוש הסדרות מורימורה מעלה נושאים מהותיים בדבר הקשר שבין תרבות המערב ויפאן – בהקשרים של תרבות גבוהה, מוזיאלית וקאנונית; בהקשרים של תרבות פופולארית וקולנוע; ובהקשרים של צילום, עיתונות ומדיה חדשה. הטריאנלה של יוקוהאמה , תיערך בין 1 באוגוסט ל-3 בנובמבר 2014, במוזיאון וברציפים של נמל יוקוהאמה, יפאן. הטריאנלה של יוקוהאמה היא אחד מאירועי האמנות החשובים ביותר של יפאן, והוא מתקיים פעם בשלוש שנים באזור הרציפים והנמל של יוקוהאמה. התצוגה הראשונה היתה ב2001, והשנה זוהי הפעם החמישית שבה תוצג הטריאנלה. מבחר האמנים המוצגים כולל שמות בינלאומיים לאומיים מפורסמים (אנדי וורהול, מרסל ברודהרטס, ג'וזף קורנל, רנה מגריט ואחרים), אמנים צעירים ולא ידועים (מאסאהירו ואדה, יוקו מורי, מלווין מוטי וכד') ואמנים שבשנים האחרונות החלו הולכים ומתבלטים והביאנלה מהווה פלטפורמה מצויינת להמשך הצלחתם (ינאגי מיווה, טויודה היטושי, מייקל לנדי, ועוד). בטריאנלה של יוקוהאמה הנושא שנבחר הוא "פרנהייט 451: מפליגים אל תוך ים השכחה", ודרך מושג זה מתכוון צוות הביאנלה אשר מלווה את מורימורה לבחון נושאים שונים אשר נוגעים לקשר שבין עבר להווה. בהרצאתה זו ד"ר אילת זהר תדבר על עבודתו של מורימורה, על ההיסטוריה של הטריאנלה ביוקוהאמה, הקונספט והאתגרים העומדים בפני הארוע,– מתוך רצון לעודד משתתפים ישראלים לבקר ביפאן ולסקר בארוע. * ד"ר אילת זהר היא אמנית רב תחומית, אוצרת עצמאית וחוקרת תרבות חזותית המתמחה בהסטוריה ותאוריה של צילום ביפאן, ומרצה בחוג לתולדות האמנות, אוניברסיטת תל-אביב. ההשתתפות אינה כרוכה בתשלום אולם בשל דרישות הביטחון בשגרירות יפן חלה חובת הרשמה מראש. הרשמה בפייסבוק בלבד לא תקלט ויש להירשם ישירות דרך שגרירות יפן או דרך אגודת הידידות. |
