International Workshop | Passages: Continuity and Change in Edo Arts Organized by IAJS at the Hebrew University Jerusalem | |
From May 27 to 30, an international workshop was held in Jerusalem on the theme of Edo arts. The event was brought about through multinational participation not just from Japan and Israel, but also from all over the world, representing eclectic field of study including arts, literature and history, all relevant to theme of the Edo period. Kicked off with a keynote speech by Prof. Joshua Mostow of the University of British Columbia, the workshop became a rarely seen platform for international exchanges among renowned scholars in Japanese studies, who also gave much recognition to the ever increasing maturity of Japanese studies in Israel as well as to the rich collection of the Japanese art in the country. Among the honoring participants were Hon. Prof. Jun Suzuki, National Institute of Japanese Literature; Prof. Yukio Lippit, Harvard University; Prof. Emeritus Sepp Linhart, Vienne University; Prof. Emeritus Ben-Ami Shillony, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem; and many leading researchers both senior and young, from all around the globe.
