It is my great honour and pleasure to be appointed as the new Ambassador to the State of Israel. I have fortunately had many opportunities to visit Israel in the past years, since I was serving once as the Deputy Director-General, and then the Director-General who was responsible for the diplomatic relations between Japan and Middle Eastern countries including Israel in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. Every time I visited Israel, I was really impressed by this energetic state that was brilliantly mixed with the ancient history and the cutting-edge technology. For Japan, Israel is the country with which we can expect more development in the bilateral relations including the fields of politics and security, economy, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges as well as in the cooperation for regional stability. There are nearly 1,000 Japanese people are living and active in many fields in Israel. The visitors from Japan as tourists or for business are also increasing these years. People-to-people exchanges are the key to solidify our countries' ties. And the Embassy's important mission is to support the secureness and activities of those Japanese people. As the Japanese Ambassador to Israel, I would be happy to meet as many people in Israel and collaborate together to further strengthen the friendly bilateral relations between our two countries in the years to come. |
