"Ikenobo" Ikebana Demonstration
hosted at Ambassador's Residence

On April 19, Mrs. Hideko Sato hosted at her residence "Ikenobo Ikebana Demonstration,"
an event held in the framework of "Journey to My Countries" series of the International Women's Club (IWC).

The guest presenter, Prof. Koji Furukawa from Ikenobo, an ikebana school with the longest tradition of over 550 years, gave the audience a brief introduction to the history of the art, followed by a live demonstration of breathtaking works including Reishiki-ike (formal floral offering) unique to Ikenobo.

An eclectic group of over 80 international guests, including H.E. Ms. Orit Noked, former Israeli Minister for Agriculture, was drawn into the esthetic beauty and profound philosophy of Ikenobo Ikebana, giving a large applause each time Prof. Furukawa presented his art piece in front.

During their stay in Israel, Prof. Furukawa and his group extended their tour to Hebrew University of Jerusalem,
Tel Aviv University and the US Ambassador's residence, where they were also received with hearty welcome and applause.
